The Legend of Persephone
In Greek mythology, Persephone — also known as Kore — is the beloved daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, and Zeus, king of the gods. Her life changes forever when Hades, ruler of the Underworld, abducts her to make her his wife.
After long negotiations among the gods, an agreement is reached: Persephone will spend part of the year with her mother, thus bringing light and fertility back to the world, and the other part in the underworld, marking the return of winter. This myth establishes the eternal cycle of the seasons and illustrates the perpetual transformation of life.

Persephone embodies the boundary between two worlds: the living and the dead. She is both the maiden of spring, a symbol of rebirth, and the Queen of the Underworld, guardian of mysteries.
